Dr. Stephen Fierro, Founder Clinic Director
Dr. Stephen Fierro is a graduate from the University of Delaware (1994) and later, Life University, College of Chiropractic in 1998. He is also a fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture and has a unique treatment regimen that utilizes Active Release Techniques® (ART) and deep tissue massage therapy to address dysfunctional soft tissue, Kinesio Taping® to aid in rehabilitation and enhance performance, acupuncture for pain relief to the affected areas and multiple chiropractic manipulative techniques to correct vertebral misalignments and extremity joint dysfunction.
He also utilizes physical rehabilitation to address core weakness, balance and flexibility. Dr. Fierro is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the national strength and condition association and is certified to use full body ART which includes conditions involving the upper extremities, lower extremities, spine, nerve entrapments and biomechanics.
Dr. Fierro cares for a very diverse patient base including the elite athlete and the weekend warrior, the severely injured and post surgical to people seeking preventive care and performance care. Patients range from a variety of age groups and backgrounds. His experience as a collegiate wrestler and his involvement in marathons and triathlons, both as a participant and care giver, has given him an understanding of what it takes to be successful in these arenas. Dr. Fierro is Ironman Performance Care certified.
Dr. Syed Asad, Medical Director
Dr. Syed Asad has been practicing neurology and nuclear medicine in Jacksonville since 2005. He graduated from medical school at Dow University of Health Sciences. He completed training in nuclear medicine at Harvard Medical School, and in neurology at Emory University Hospital. Dr. Asad is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
Prior to joining RSI, he worked with the Baptist Neurology Group as Section Chief of Neurology, served in the US Army Reserves Medical Corp, and provided sideline assessments to injured Jacksonville Jaguar’s players during games. In 2015, Dr. Asad started a solo Neurology practice called Universal Neurological Care.
Dr. Asad currently serves as the Medical Director for the Eisenhower Center, a center focused on in-house and outpatient care of individuals with traumatic brain injuries. At RSI, he will use his expertise to perform stem cell therapy.
Catherine Yelvington, PT
Catherine Yelvington has specialized in the women’s health field for over 10 years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland, NY. After working as a personal trainer in Orlando, FL, she went back to school to get her license in massage therapy. She owned her own business, Muscle Kneads, before continuing her education at the University of North Florida for her master’s degree in physical therapy.
Catherine found her niche in women’s health, and acquired her Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy/Postpartum and Pelvic Health from the American Physical Therapy Association. Realizing the importance of nutrition, she furthered her education through the Maryland University of Integrative Health for a master’s degree in clinical nutrition.
Catherine’s goal is to use her combined expertise to help patients achieve optimum health. She feels that everyone can achieve a higher level of wellness and quality of life with the correct guidance. Having education in all areas of wellness allows her to focus on a holistic approach to healing – mind, body and spirit.
Rebecca Hamilton, ARNP
Rebecca left a career in corporate America in 2001 to peruse a career in nursing. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Drexel University, graduating cum laude. After working as a registered nurse for several years, she graduated with high distinction from Chamberlain College of Nursing, earning a Master of Science in nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. Since becoming a nurse practitioner, she has received extensive training from industry leaders in regenerative medicine, joint and soft tissue injections, and medical weight loss.
Rebecca enjoys helping patients live their best life.“My work is very rewarding. I love helping people reduce pain and improve function with regenerative medicine, but seeing my medical weight loss patients reach their goals is truly my favorite part of working at RSI”. When Rebecca is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing tennis, boating and watching her children participate in their many activities.
